This surpassed the previous record set by Virat Kohli in 2016, who hit 122 boundaries (83 fours and 38 sixes) during his prolific run with Royal Challengers Bangalore. ​

In the 2023 season, Shubman Gill of Gujarat Titans also made a significant impact by hitting 118 boundaries (85 fours and 33 sixes). ​
